distinguished academic renowned for her impactful contributions to both fields. Dr. Iram Qureshi is an award-winning British film and TV producer and director, the co-founder of the London-based production companies KQ Movies and Evergreen Media Europe. She is also currently serving as a Senior Lecturer in Digital Film and Television Production at Ravensbourne University London. With over two decades of experience, Iram possesses extensive knowledge in film and television production, direction, and post-production.
Recently, Iram produced the romantic feature film Only Love Matters—available on Apple TV—which is notable for being the first feature film in the UK to feature lead intersex characters. The film has garnered nearly 30 awards, including Best Producer, Best Feature, and Best Director, at international film festivals, along with numerous nominations and official selections. Iram’s accolades include Best Film Producer at the New York Movie Awards and Big Syn International Film Festival in 2021, as well as the Hollywood Gold Award for Production Design and Best Feature Film at the Hollywood Gold Awards 2021. She also won Best Romantic Movie at the Rome International Movie Awards 2021 and received a Special Recognition Award at the University of East Anglia’s Engagement Awards 2022 for Only Love Matters. Additionally, she secured 3rd place at the Brunel University Alumni Award for producing the Best Feature Film. Her work has also been recognized with the Best Series Award at the 1st Indus Drama Awards in 2005 and the Best Talk Show Award at the PTV Awards in 2002. Iram was a finalist for the Innovation and Impact Award at the University of East Anglia in 2022 and was nominated for Best Female Producer at the Toronto International Women Film Festival 2021, among other honors.
Iram earned her Ph.D. in Film and Television from Brunel University London, where she conducted the first sustained analysis of pioneer woman director Wendy Toye’s career in 1950s British cinema and television. She also holds an MSc in Communication Sciences with a major in TV Production. She is currently working on a book about 1950s British cinema, which has been commissioned by Manchester University Press as the first book in their British Film Makers series dedicated to a woman filmmaker.
Iram has also produced and directed several branded TV talk shows, award-winning television films and numerous TV drama serials and documentaries covering topics ranging from mothers, women’s rights, military forces to the role of maritime in a nation’s economy.
As a sought-after speaker, Iram has been invited to speak at Brunel University London, the Elsie Inglis Sit Still Event in Edinburgh, and the Green Film Festival at the University of East Anglia, where she led a workshop on Film and the Environment. In 2020, she presented her research on “A Critical Exploration of Indian Partition Characters by a British Asian Woman Director: An Ideological Analysis” at Trinity University in the US.
